Saying Goodbye to the Class of 2014

2014 is coming to a close, and with it this year's SparkLabKC Class. As excited as I am to start working with our new class in January 2015 (to be announced soon!), I am equally sad to say goodbye to the innovative teams I have grown close to over the past year. Some of them have been in residence at the SparkLabKC office since April. I've enjoyed continued engagement in their growth and development, as well as long lunches (concluding with credit card roulette, which I seem to always lose), and many, many aggressive games of ping-pong.

From Start to Finish

As I look back at the initial information we gathered about each of the ten companies, I am amazed at the growth I've witnessed in the past year. From branding to marketing to product offerings, they have all made incredible strides both through their time with us and since their Demo Day last April. Several of our companies have raised their entire seed rounds, others are well on their way, and some have strong revenue streams and are rapidly adding more clients.

I am very proud of each of them and the progress they've made. I have no doubt that we will soon be hearing some big success stories from the Class of 2014.

An Innovative Community

One of our greatest accomplishments with SparkLabKC has been building a community of entrepreneurs who continue to engage with each other for support, guidance, and inspiration. Together with our tremendous team of mentors and investors, we have created a place where Kansas City's innovators can gather to learn and grow, and to take risks and reap the rewards.

I know that the legacy of our first two classes continues to endure and inform us as we prepare to welcome 10 new companies into the fold on January 12th. I also know that as the SparkLabKC family continues to grow, our graduates will extend a warm welcome to the new class and become valuable mentors. I look forward to seeing them around our space and hearing news of their continued success!

Happy Holidays from SparkLabKC! We're looking forward to a New Year full of possibility and innovation.
